Heat Wave Update
July 30, 2009
Yes, we've come to the height of our northern summer - we're well into our second week with temperatures in the low 30s, and it looks like the heat is going to be with us for a while longer. We're not used to this any more, even though you'd think four years in southern Ontario would give us some sort of immunity.
The good thing is that the humidity isn't outrageous, and it cools down very nicely at night. And my garage study is cool and comfy, so I've got nothing to complain about.
You'd think that things would slow down a bit in the summer, but such hasn't been the case. We were blessed with two first-time visitors at our worship service on Sunday morning, and two other first-timers at our Sunday evening Bible study, which was very encouraging. We've only got two weeks left in this session of Sunday evening classes, after which we'll take a three-week hiatus. We'll be starting the new course in the week after Labour Day, and catechism classes for the kids then too.
And, the Lord willing, this coming Sunday we'll be welcoming a family who will be meeting with us for the first time, as well as a number of visitors from other congregations in our federation.
So it may be the "dog days of summer," but the Lord continues to do His work without interruption, and for that we're very thankful!
