"In the beginning," has more than one meaning
Some would like to have us admit.
Six days to create, carries on as debate -
Just what does Genesis permit?

Their research is "clear," and they'd like you to hear;
Their findings they want to espouse.
They've sharpened their scissors to fix up the Scriptures,
With revisions to what God’s Word allows.

They can box up our Maker, limit our Creator,
To His greatness they will not concede.
That Book is so old and they will not be told
That the world was formed in one week.

They'll make their own rules, so they don’t look like fools
To the world around them, and then,
When today’s science favour loses its flavour
They'll rework the theories - again.

They've put death before sin, pond scum grows fins -
One big pot of primordial soup.
We've got apes as first cousins, theories by the dozens
And humans have evolved out of goop.

But ...

Sedimentary basins, research extrapolations,
Genetics and catastrophic events,
Isotope ratios, DNA and microbes -
We all see the same evidence!

From the young earth creationist, all the way to the atheist -
The difference is how each reacts
To our worldview position, bias and prediction
And determines how we process the facts.
Oh, the webs we can weave when we choose to believe
Our own intellect above everything else.
All our book learning, without proper discerning
Will still render our "wisdom" as false.

Let's find our humility and accept God's ability
That He had it right the first time.
In six literal days, just as Scripture says
It's all part of His awesome design!
